Poised for the budget session?
Insiders say that there will be yoga sessions in the morning to de-stress officials. Also, there will be games like tug-of-war and a cricket match among officials. “The idea is to refresh them ahead of their hectic schedule before the Budget,” a finance ministry official commented.

Rahul’s language exercise
Rahul Gandhi has picked up extempore speeches in chaste Hindi too well, as he is now on a campaign trail in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi rehearsed it twice or thrice before going public. Even in Lok Sabha, he read out a prepared script.

His friends say when he is angry his extempore speech becomes too focused. Will he render similar speeches for Gujarat elections in November 2012?

In the line of fire
Government quietly fielded two former Defence Secretaries to speak out their mind on the age controversy of the chief of army staff. Both are holding constitutional posts, still, media managers of Defence Ministry effectively countered it. One of them commented that the Chief of Army Staff should not have threatened to taken legal remedies. If Gen Singh had opted to move SC, former Defence Secretary commented that Gen Singh would have become”rogue General"

Who will succeed Narayanasamy?
Congress leaders are happy with V Narayanasamy on his fiery speeches on Lokpal in both houses. Many speculate that V Narayanasamy will be given an elevation, possibly before the budget session. In that case, VN may have to move out of PMO. But many Congress leaders are now worried who would succeed Narayanasamy in PMO. Four or five names are making rounds in the corridors of power.

An amicable settlement
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is best known for his outsourcing the crucial issues for resolutions either to Pranab Mukherjee, or to TKA Nair. Dr Singh has asked Pranab da to bring a settlement in the controversy over General V K Singh’s age. After the Uttar Pradesh elections, allegedly General VK Singh will resign. It is believed that the government will then appoint him as Governor of Goa.
